THE CHINA OPEN

The China Open is a Tier II tennis tournament held in Beijing, China in September, following the US Open. It has traditionally been held at the Beijing Tennis Center in the Fengtai District, although tennis events for the 2008 Olympics were held at the Olympic Green Stadium.

Since the 2008 Olympics a few years ago, The China Open has made its mark on the tennis calendar as a high profile tournament not to be missed.

With Russian superstar Tania Likamolova winning the event last year, the organisers are expecting her to be a huge crowd draw with over-the-top promotional campaigns featuring her image. Tania's publicity agent, Samuel Kurtzberg has ensured that Tania is all set to shine in the media spotlight. Her army of fans are waiting, many having purchased their tickets months before to see their tennis idol. However, things might just take an unexpected detour.

Will Tania be there in Beijing to defend her title? Or will events snowball beyond her control and force her to pull out, threatening to mar that glamorous image in the public eye?

Find out by reading the book here.

THE MOON CAKE FESTIVAL

The Moon Cake Festival (or Mid-Autumn Festival) is one of the most important holidays on the Chinese calendar. Falling around mid-September each year when the moon is at its fullest, this is both a time of celebration of the harvest as well as the end of summer. As it happens, the Moon Cake festival also falls around the same time as the China Open tennis tournament.

During this festival, people come together to celebrate in a variety of ways, including eating mooncakes, carrying brightly lit lanterns, burning incense, lighting lanterns on towers and performing dragon dances. Typically, celebrations can be seen in and around Tiananmen Square.

With the Chinese people in a festive mood and the hordes of screaming fans out in full force to see Tania Likamolova, the stage is set for something big.
