The BMW C1, as driven by tennis player Tania Likamolova in The Goldilocks Game, is a hybrid motorcycle that was designed to combine the advantages of two-wheeled transportation (e.g. lower fuel emissions and running costs, ease of moving through traffic, ease of parking) with the added safety of an automobile.
As the picture shows, the C1 has a roof that provides a protective shell around the rider. The C1 has many other features of a car: for example, it has a windscreen wiper with washer fluid. Some versions even provide an internal light, a sun roof and a music system and an airbag in the event of a crash.
Unfortunately, the roof's extra weight gives the C1 a higher centre of gravity than other motorcycles. Combined with the C1's four-point seat belt (which must be worn in order to start the bike – a safety mechanism disables the starter until the seat belt is securely fastened) which forces the rider to sit upright against the backrest, the C1's design makes handling at slow speeds rather difficult until the rider has gained experience in manoeuvring the 408 lb (185 kg) bike.
